Integration as a Tool for Transformation

Integration as a Tool for Transformation

Whenever we reach the New Year, we intentionally pause to reflect on the year that has just passed. We think of the journey as a wave that transforms as we move through time, and in the last few months of 2023, a lot has changed.

We celebrated our third anniversary in September, and in December, we launched our new website and rebranding. We also introduced merchandise and magic mushroom tea to our community.

Whether you just joined this year or have been with us from the start, each of you has impacted Sero’s transformation. We wouldn’t be where we are today, and we are so grateful for every single one of you being a part of the journey.

As we prepare to take off in 2024, we ask you to reflect on the following questions:

Is the life you are living congruent with your deepest intentions and desires?

Where are you congruent, and where are you growing?

When it comes to psychedelic experiences, we know how important the preparation phase is. Preparation includes physical safety, the set and setting, choosing to work with a guide or sitter, determining your dosing or blend, and any cleansing or fasting.

What is often not discussed enough is that integration begins in the preparation phase.

Before your next psychedelic experience, we encourage you to think of the questions above and bring deliberate attention to everything going on for you before your journey. This can allow for more openness and fluidity to whatever the medicine wants to show you.

When it comes to a non-ordinary state journey, such as meditation, Holotropic Breathwork, or psychedelics, they are all catalysts to a process towards wholeness. This process is called integration and, like the journey, it is unique for everyone.

Essentially, the underlying intention is to incorporate any insights you gain from the state of altered consciousness into your everyday life.

Speaking directly to magic mushrooms, we have come to profoundly understand what a powerful tool they are to help with the psychological processing of oneself and the universe.

Throughout our lives, we collectively ride waves and experience overarching themes such as love and death. However, specifics come up for us individually due to our internal physiology, history of experiences, and present-day external life factors. It is the same with magic mushrooms; whether you choose to microdose or macrodose, no two experiences are ever the same. Each experience becomes one part of the transformational process, which is life-long.

If no intentional integration practices are put in place, the insights and lessons of the experience often fade away as you fall back into old tendencies and routines. Through integration, we honor what we have allowed ourselves to be opened to as we translate the symbolic and sometimes mystical nature of our experiences into concrete actions.

How each person integrates their experience is unique to their intentions, lifestyle, capabilities, and level of accessibility. It can be a one-time action, or you can start small with intentional and realistic practices that are doable, feel good, and can be incorporated into your everyday life.

An example of a one-time action may be sending a letter to a family member, creating an altar, or doing a beach clean-up. It can be smaller daily practices like yoga, meditation, breathwork, journaling, volunteering at a soup kitchen, getting a massage, decluttering to donate, or walking barefoot in nature. What we decide to practice in the integration process brings about the changes in our lives toward a more balanced state. Ultimately, the commitment to sustain the integration process is toward oneself.

As we continue the journey here at Sero, we promise to keep bringing sacredness and intentionality into our everyday. Even though the New Year signifies a fresh start, the reality is that every day is a new opportunity to continue integrating all that we have learned from our experiences so far. Not only do we owe it to you, our community members, but we owe it to ourselves. As we continue towards wholeness, we are so excited to see where the waves take us next!

As always, we are here to support you.
